The title of my post says "Waiting for GOD", but it really isn't waiting for GOD. Waiting for GOD gives the impression or connotation that He is late and that He needs to hurry up. In reality, GOD is giving us exactly what we need at every moment. He sustains me physically and spiritually throughout every single day, and if I am lacking in anything it is my own fault. It is very difficult or possibly impossible to fathom GOD and that He is outside of time and space, but GOD sees all of time and our life here on earth is only mist as James says it.
"Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are
a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." James 4:14
Since GOD sees our entire life as well as all of time, He knows what we need and when we need it. GOD is good and He will give us what we need.
Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give
him a stone? "Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will
he? "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who
ask Him! Matthew 7:9-11
We must be patient and learn to have the same will as our Father. I find myself wanting and worried for things that are of this world, not evil things, just things that are
fleeting, I then have to stop and think, strike that, KNOW that God is in control and that I do not need to worry or "wait" for God
impatiently because I know that He has-does-and-will take care of me. At the same time, even if things do not work out for me the way I would like, I must, I repeat, MUST obey His word. We must be as Daniel's three friends who stood up to the ruler of the known world and refused to bow down to an idol.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do
not need to give you an answer concerning this matter. "If it be so, our
God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He
will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it
be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the
golden image that you have set up." Daniel 3:16-18
Every time I read this passage I am amazed as well as ashamed. If I was placed in the same situation as these three, would I respond the same? I would like to say "Yes", but when I feel as though I am constantly in doubt and worry, how could I have such faith under such extreme conditions?
I have found a scripture that speaks very well to the matter of worry,
in fact the Bible I am looking at titles this section "The Cure For Anxiety".
For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing? For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34
